Author: Kathryn Stockett
Date I Finished Reading: September 3, 2012
My Rating: 4/5
If you are looking for a humorous, serious, touching, well-written read…this is it. Kathryn Stockett truly has a gift for writing, and her characters are real, down-to-earth people who you can relate to. The story is written from the point of view of 3 different women all working together to make the story of the help known. The book does a great job at showing how doing what is right takes courage and sacrifices, and comes with its consequences… but it makes you so much stronger.
There are a few negative aspects to the book, however. For example, much language is used throughout the book. Also, there is one scene that I found somewhat disturbing.
Overall, I would recommend this book to you. Then, I suggest you watch the movie, which I think is pretty great, too! 🙂
